This week’s Beat Latino celebrates National Poetry Month with a selection of sung poems – from Cuba’s Nicolas Guillén and José Martí to Nobel-Prize awarded Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, to poets that were tragically killed for their words – Miguel Hernandez and Federico García Lorca from Spain, Victor Jara from Chile. In a special way, Beat Latino salutes the wonderful power of word in rhythm which is, as one of the sung poems states, “a weapon loaded with the future.”
