This week’s Beat Latino is a homage to the amazing accordionist Celso Piña, dubbed “El Rebelde del Acordeón,” considered one of the first punk accordionists. From Monterrey, Mexico, he fell in love with the sounds of Colombia took that land’s cumbia and vallenato around the world, to the delight of thousands, including acclaimed Noble Prize winner in Literature, Colombian Gabriel García Marquez. Long live Celso Piña! Rest in Music, Maestro.
