This Beat Latino is an hour of music that I have had the immense good fortune to experience live, thanks to the extraordinary curation of SXSW. Over the last 9 years (I’ve gone 9 years in a row!) the depth and breadth of nuestra música has been such an abundant feast, it was truly heartbreaking for the artists, ourselves as journalists, music lovers, and festival-goers that the 2020 edition was cancelled. So this week’s selection on Beat Latino is just the very smallest taste of that 9-year feast–in my case–and a celebration and hurrah! to many more.
